Our Story: Fragments of Home began with my dad, Ed.
When my brother was growing up, he and his friends nicknamed him Eddie the Eagle because Dad always seemed to know what they were up to. After he passed away, eagles became something deeply meaningful to our family. Every one we see feels like a quiet reminder that he is still with us.
A few years later, my mom bought a sea glass eagle. I remember thinking, I could probably make one of those. I bought some sea glass, tucked it away, and forgot about it until one day, while looking for a new purpose for some unused wedding canvases, I found it again.
I made a map of Newfoundland, then another piece, and eventually an eagle in memory of my dad. Without realizing it, I had found something I loved.
Then a windstorm shattered the glass panels on our patio. Months later, as the sunlight caught the scattered pieces, I stopped. Where others might have seen something to clean up, I saw possibility. I gathered every piece.
Looking back, I think that moment revealed the heart of what Fragments of Home would become. I have always been drawn to the stories hidden inside ordinary things. Sea glass shaped by the ocean. Weathered wood. Rope touched by salt air. Glass that catches the light. Every piece has a journey before it ever reaches my hands.
Today, every creation is a reflection of those stories. They celebrate the places we love, the people we carry with us, and the memories that make us feel at home.
I never set out to start a business. I simply started noticing stories. And I realized that every fragment has one.
Stephanie transforms reclaimed and found glass into one-of-a-kind works celebrating Newfoundland and Labrador culture, wildlife, music, and costal heritage.
Each piece gives new life to materials shaped by the Atlantic, preserving, stories of home, memory, and connection to the sea.
Ever shard has a history.
Every piece tells a story.
And in Stephanie’s hands, broken glass becomes legacy.
